To collect, conserve, and study artworks that are of important historical and artistic values are some of the original functions of art museums, with public service and social education achieved through open exhibitions. However, due to limitations in space, funding, and available exhibition dates, most of the artworks collected in a museum are often not publically showcased. In order to continue to share and engage in the exchange of knowledge and to conduct external communication and development an international network of audience, the integration of digital concepts and applications has become an advantageous strategy at the moment for conserving artworks and vitalizing collections. The feature story of this issue looks into the experiences of multiple countries and shares how art museums could assertively appeal to and build an audience base in today’s digital era. Creative classifications and interpretive methodologies could also be applied to spark new knowledge links and to expand and lead to the production of more diverse and exciting culture.
